The Bliss of Ignorance is a powerful documentary that explores South Africa’s dependence on coal and its impact on public health and the environment, especially in Mpumalanga. Through interviews and on-the-ground experiences, it reveals how Eskom’s coal-fired power stations contribute to pollution, water scarcity, and a potential “sick” generation. Released in 2015, the film is a timely critique of the country’s energy policies and a call for urgent change.
